Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to programming using the C language, which is foundational for computer science and engineering disciplines. C is known for its efficiency, portability, and close interaction with hardware, making it ideal for developing operating systems, embedded systems, and high-performance applications. Through this course, students will gain essential problem-solving and coding skills by learning how to write, compile, and debug C programs effectively.The course begins with the basic structure of a C program and gradually progresses through variables, data types, input/output operations, operators, expressions, and control flow statements such as loops and conditionals. Students will then learn about user-defined functions, parameter passing, recursion, and modular programming to promote reusability and logical organization of code.Further, the course explores key concepts such as arrays, strings, and pointers, followed by structures, unions, and enumerations that support user-defined data types. Students will also work with file handling in C, understanding how to read and write data using file streams. A special focus is placed on memory management using dynamic memory allocation techniques, pointer arithmetic, and the internal representation of data.Practical lab sessions are integrated into the curriculum to reinforce theoretical concepts through hands-on programming. Students will write structured programs, debug logic errors, and analyze the efficiency of their solutions.
