If you’ve ever wanted to make a game but felt overwhelmed by where to start, this course is made for you.

In this beginner course, we’re going to build a 2.5D game in Godot 4 from start to finish. The focus is on creating a game where 2D sprites exist inside a real 3D environment, similar to the style used in games like Cult of the Lamb. This is not an isometric setup or fake 3D. We’ll be working in an actual 3D world and learning how to combine it with 2D assets to achieve a modern 2.5D look.

You don’t need any previous experience with Godot or programming. I walk through everything step by step, including how to set up Godot, how scenes work, and how to build a small playable project in a simple and approachable way.

This is a short beginner focused course, so we won’t spend much time on heavy programming or complex systems. The goal is to help you understand the workflow and give you a solid foundation you can build on later.

I also include a set of free assets so you can follow along without needing to create your own art or models. You can focus on learning how everything fits together instead of getting stuck on asset creation.

By the end of the course, you will have built a small 2.5D game that includes a 3D environment, 2D characters and objects, basic gameplay, and a simple main menu, along with the knowledge needed to continue building your own projects in Godot 4.
