Description
Within the evolving Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) regulatory framework, all corporations, including financial institutions, need to adapt and comply accordingly. On the one hand, regulatory officials at the national level need to be better equipped so as to understand and implement the new regulatory framework, whilst on the other hand, compliance and ESG officers need to comprehend global developments; report and communicate ESG corporate policies and actions to stakeholders; and secure that compliance is achieved with the applicable regulations.

This course will therefore guide you through the main sustainability topics as well as the main regulatory instruments used to finance the green transition and adequately report on ESG business performance. These include the EU Taxonomy, the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), including the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard (VSME). Through the lens of double materiality, the course will also give insights and practical considerations as to how Impacts, Risks and Opportunities can be identified and assessed for a more targeted sustainability management and following International and EU due diligence principles. Finally, through real world examples and case studies, an in depth analysis will be given in how to build an effective ESG strategy that delivers real action and follows sustainability reporting standards used mainly in the EU.
