It doesn’t matter what camera you use for this course – a phone is perfectly fine. These are the essential photography basics you need to master before diving into the technical aspects and manual camera settings.

Light is the foundation of photography. In this course, you will learn how to see, understand, and control light in any environment — indoors, outdoors, natural or artificial.

Many beginners believe that mastering light takes years. In reality, once you understand a few essential principles, everything becomes logical and manageable. This course explains light in simple, clear language without complicated technical jargon.

You will learn how to distinguish between hard and soft light, warm and cool light, natural and artificial sources. You will understand how light direction (front, side, back, Rembrandt lighting) changes depth, volume, and facial features in portraits. We will also explore key light and fill light, and how shadows create dimension in your images.

Throughout the course, I use a combination of photographs taken by me personally, images from Pexels under free license, publicly available images of celebrities from open internet sources for educational analysis, and AI-generated visuals where necessary to clearly demonstrate lighting concepts.
