Description
“This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.”
Corrective action requests (CARs) are one of the most misunderstood and poorly executed parts of quality management systems. Too often, they trigger fear, blame, excessive paperwork, or quick fixes that don’t actually prevent problems from coming back.
This course is a practical, experience-based guide to responding to corrective action requests from registrars, customers, internal audits, and management review—without turning them into disciplinary exercises or bureaucratic nightmares.
You’ll learn how auditors think about corrective action, why many responses fail, and how to approach CARs as system-improvement opportunities rather than punishments. The course walks step-by-step through defining the problem clearly, determining appropriate containment, thinking about root cause without blaming employees, and deciding when corrective action is actually necessary versus when a simple correction is enough.
The second half of the course focuses on execution: building realistic corrective action plans, securing buy-in from process owners, setting achievable timelines, documenting constraints, and avoiding over-reliance on training and checklists. Finally, you’ll learn how to verify effectiveness, recognize recurring “zombie” problems, and understand when an issue shifts from quality improvement to a management or discipline issue.
This course is ideal for quality managers, internal auditors, supervisors, and professionals involved in ISO 9001 or similar management systems who want corrective actions to actually work—and stay fixed.
